EDUCATION
PSWE provides education on many aspects of mental health and wellness that effect public safety professionals, their families, and retirees in both their personal and professional lives. We provide this information by offering lectures, publications, workshops, conference presentations, department wide trainings and individual education.
SPECIALIZED CLINCAL TREATMENT
Mental health treatment can be expensive and a large barrier for may public safety professionals that may be emotionally and psychologically struggling. Additionally, it is difficult to find therapists that have ability to provide successful treatment protocols. This organization will be utilizing contributions received to assist public safety professionals and their families in accessing quality mental health services and without the barrier of cost.
WORKSHOPS & RETREATS
We organize charity retreats, conferences, and workshops in order to raise funds and awareness for the cause. These events are to enhance public safety professionals' quality of life. All proceeds go to further programs and services of public safety wellness and empowerment.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We provide internships or volunteer opportunities which provide opportunities for involvement in outreach activities and programs in order to have a greater impact for change
CRISIS INTERVENTION/CRITICAL INCIDENT RELIEF
We provide public safety specific crisis and critical incident mental health interventions for departments and individuals that are psychologically and emotionally struggling with these situations.
SPRITUAL SUPPORT
Public Safety Wellness and Empowerment recognizes how dynamic individuals are and aim to support their holistic wellness needs. Spirituality is not typically acknowledged in public safety departments. Chaplain program development and implementation for public safety departments will be supported and encouraged by this organization.
RESEARCH
The literature in public safety mental health is insufficient for academic and professionals to have an adequate understanding of the specific challenges they face.
PSWE actively engages these research activities:
- Mental health and wellness individual and organizational surveys and assessments
- Program development and effectiveness
- Mental health practice effectiveness studies
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
PSWE works with communities surrounding their public safety professionals to ensure sustainable support.
